Affordable cost of service package from Kingswood MapMechanics

OptiSite adds network modelling power to geographic information system

If you need to re-plan store or depot locations, sales or service territories or franchise allocation, then OptiSite could be your solution. This new and affordable system for helping businesses allocate resources more effectively on a geographical basis has been launched by Kingswood MapMechanics, one of the UK’s leading specialists in business analysis and geographic information systems.

OptiSite allows organisations to evaluate the implications of dealing with dispersed demand points, and to develop strategies for meeting new or existing requirements more logically and economically.

In the world of marketing, this might involve defining territories for door-to-door leaflet distribution. In retailing, it could mean finding the right location for a new store. In transport and logistics, it might involve finding the best location for a new depot, or deciding which existing depot to use for delivering to new customers.

OptiSite allows users to tackle any such requirements through a clear, intuitive interface, entering requirements and constraints in order to establish the cost of the various options and the extent of resources needed in each case. For instance, OptiSite can be used to evaluate the travel cost reductions achieved by adding more depots against the increased costs of expanding the infrastructure. The results can be displayed in a variety of ways – as textual lists, in charts and graphs, or on a detailed map showing the areas served and the location of resources.

The new solution combines the strengths of two existing products – OptiSite, an established and proven network modelling system, and GeoConcept, one of the world’s leading geographic information systems.

OptiSite takes the form of a GeoConcept module, which means existing GeoConcept users need not learn a new interface or work in an unfamiliar environment. OptiSite functionality is simply accessed through a new menu item in the standard GeoConcept screen.

New users will appreciate the clean, clear interface of GeoConcept, which combines a logical configuration process and point-and-click interaction with an extremely powerful set of geocoding functions, analytical tools and display options.

Importing your data from a spreadsheet or database into a GeoConcept map is very simple. Various options are offered within the OptiSite module, including for instance the facility to base calculations either on direct lines between demand points and resources, or on actual routes. Users can also choose either to base their optimisation on existing resources, or to perform “what-if” analysis using hypothetical resources; or they can use a mixture of the two.

Even for users new to both systems, the package of GeoConcept Standard and OptiSite comes in at a lower price than many comparable network modelling and resource allocation tools. New users have the added benefit of gaining the full power of GeoConcept itself to apply to other geographical analysis requirements.

As the UK distributor of both GeoConcept and OptiSite, Kingswood MapMechanics has been uniquely equipped to combine the benefits of both systems in this special package.
